Roanoke Police Department Seeks Public’s Assistance in Identifying Suspect

Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a property damage that occurred on August 13, 2008. Officers responded at 2:25 a.m. to the Poff Building in the 200 block of Franklin Road. A large rock was thrown at the front window. The window was not broken, but was damaged. Surveillance pictures are available of a male suspect throwing the rock at the building. No arrests have been made. Roanoke Police Department Seeks Person of Interest in Homicide

Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest in a homicide that occurred on April 1, 2008. Officers responded at 4:45 p.m. to a residence in the 2400 block of Maryland Avenue. They located the victim inside of the residence, who was later identified as Marvin Lawson, Sr., age 78 of Roanoke. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made. The department is attempting to locate Johnny Eugene Stanley, age 48 of Roanoke. A photograph of Mr. Stanley is available. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Stanley should call 911.


Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on January 19, 2008. Officers responded at 10:04 p.m. to the Subway in the 3000 block of Peters Creek Road. The suspect entered the restaurant, brandished a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt. No arrests have been made. The suspect is described as a black male, between approximately 6’5” and 6’8” tall, between approximately 195 and 210 pounds, with a mustache. He was wearing a long sleeve dark shirt, with a dark vest, dark jeans, and a dark hat.


Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is releasing the surveillance pictures of a suspect in a robbery that occurred on December 29, 2007 at approximately 1:53 a.m. Officers responded to the 4800 block of Valley View Boulevard and determined that the victim had been robbed while walking to her vehicle. The investigation revealed that the suspect described as a light skinned black male wearing a blue knit cap approximately 5’8” tall and 180 pounds struggled with the victim while taking her purse. The suspect was observed getting out of a silver two door hatchback before he approached the victim. The suspect is believed to have an accomplice described as a white male wearing a green knit cap, approximately 5’10” tall driving the silver two door hatchback. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect wearing the blue knit cap that committed the act was last seen running towards the IHOP on Valley View Boulevard. Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is seeking information regarding the whereabouts of a suspect in an aggravated assault. Officers responded at 9:03 p.m. on November 30, 2007 to the Stop In Food Store at the intersection of Hershberger Road and Ferncliff Avenue. There officers found an adult male and an adult female who had been shot. An investigation revealed that the two were shot while inside of a vehicle parked in the 2700 block of Tremont Drive. The victims then drove the vehicle to the Stop In Food Store, and were transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. An investigation has also revealed that this was not a random act, and the suspect knew the victims. The suspect has been identified at Jeremy Lamont Manns, age 25 of Roanoke. Warrants have been obtained for the suspect. Those warrants include two counts of malicious wounding and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. A picture of Mr. Manns is available. Roanoke Police Department Urges Victims and/or Witnesses to Cooperate with Investigations into Home Invasions

Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Department is investigating four home invasions that have occurred within the last two days. Investigations have shown these incidents were not random acts. It appears the suspects believed the victims were involved in drug activity. Detectives have also developed suspects who they believe were attempting to obtain drugs and/or money from these homes. An arrest has been made in one of the offenses, but the department has been unable to make additional arrests due to a lack of cooperation from victims and witnesses. The department is urging people with information regarding these crimes to come forward. Those with information can call the Roanoke Police Department at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500. Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an investigation into credit card fraud. On October 17, 2007 the department was notified by the victim, who stated that her purse was stolen from her vehicle in the late night hours of October 16, or early morning hours of October 17. Money and credit cards were among the items in the victim’s purse. One of the credit cards was used at the Kroger grocery store on Brandon Avenue. Surveillance pictures of the suspect are available. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, wearing tan pants and a black jacket.

Roanoke Police Department Seeks Public’s Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Identity Theft

Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is attempting to identify a suspect who stole another man’s identity and made credit card purchases.

The victim reported the crime to the Roanoke Police Department on October 8, 2007. The suspect obtained credit cards in the victim’s name. The suspect also rented a Budget Box moving truck in Roanoke, using the victim’s identity. The truck has not been returned and has an Oklahoma license plate, 2JG718. Surveillance pictures are available of the suspect and an associate making purchases at area Lowe’s stores on October 1, 2007.

There have been a series of robberies in the western section of Roanoke City. The suspect is described as a B/M , Late 20's- early 30's, 5'10"-6'-0", 195 lbs. Suspect has worn either a black coat or black sweatshirt. The suspect covers his face with a bandanna or a t-shirt. He was armed with a handgun in all four robberies. He has dreads or braided hair. He has large set eyes.

 


 

Roanoke, VA The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a theft from a building, which occurred on February 19, 2007.  Surveillance video shows a suspect entering the Jefferson Center, in the 500 block of Luck Avenue at
